Wesleyan University





Italian. Beginning July 1, 2014, Adjunct Assistant Professor (with Ph.D.) or Adjunct Instructor (with M.A.) to teach Italian language courses and coordinate the Italian language program. We are particularly interested in applicants with training in second-language acquisition. Requirements: native/near-native fluency in Italian, pertinent and substantial language-teaching experience and demonstrated commitment to pedagogy, as well as expertise and strong interest in the use of multimedia in language teaching. Duties: 5 courses per year; develop and supervise the Italian language curriculum; coordinate teaching assistants. The successful candidate will work in tandem with the tenured/tenure track faculty in order to promote the Italian Studies major, and, with other language-teaching adjuncts, to advance the cause of excellent and innovative language instruction within the Wesleyan liberal arts curriculum. Adjunct faculty at Wesleyan are full-time professors of the practice and receive an initial four-year contract, which is followed by a periodic renewal process based on teaching and collegial contributions; adjunct faculty also have the opportunity to apply for periodic sabbaticals and annual funding for pedagogical renewal and research.

mi chiamo Raffaella Isaia, abito a Torino, e sono la Rappresentate
di Manta Translations per il mercato Italia.
Il mio primo contatto con la Manta Translation avvenne nel maggio
del 2012 ma all’epoca, malgrado fossi molto allettata di far

A settembre del 2013 mi posi nuovamente ed esclusivamente in
contatto con la Manta Translations dando piena disponibilità
lavorativa e, da qui, iniziammo a collaborare. Come avevo
immaginato, l’impatto fu molto buono: l’organizzazione, la
professionalità, l’ambiente lavorativo ed il supporto mi
stupirono in positivo. Inoltre, col tempo e in base alla mia
personale esperienza con altre agenzie di traduzioni italiane e
straniere, sono giunta alla conclusione che la Manta Translations
è una compagnia profondamente seria, il cui scopo è quello di
sviluppare e superare le continue sfide del mercato delle
traduzioni.
Grazie al lavoro degli ultimi anni, la Manta Translations ha
iniziato una nuova politica di espansione e crescita che prevede
di creare diversi gruppi di lavoro sia in Europa sia in altre
Nazioni. Tra le altre, da ottobre di quest’anno è operativa la
sede della Romania, a Bucarest, a carico di Irina Zbravoz che
rappresenta un esempio eloquente di come la Manta Translations
desideri instaurare il rapporto con i propri collaboratori: il
primo contatto tra Irina e l’azienda risale a giugno del 2012.
Dopo diversi test ed interviste via Skype, a novembre dello stesso
anno iniziò la sua collaborazione con il gruppo. A febbraio di
quest’anno la Manta Translations ha invitato Irina a recarsi
presso la sede argentina per un periodo di cinque settimane
facendosi interamente carico di ogni spesa e del compenso. Ne è
emersa un’esperienza positiva e motivante: Irina è rimasta
favorevolmente impressa dal gruppo di persone, dall’ambiente di
lavoro e dalla professionalità dell’organizzazione. Quelle
settimane le son servite per stabilire legami con gli altri
colleghi, stringere amicizie e, soprattutto, per capire la
filosofia di base dell’azienda. Una volta tornata a Bucarest,
per lei è iniziata una nuova fase di crescita professionale tanto
che attualmente è la rappresentante di Manta Translations per la
Romania ed il capo ufficio della nuova sede di Bucarest.

L'Italo-Americano is a bilingual, weekly newspaper serving the Italian-American community throughout the United States. Established in 1908, L'Italo-Americano is the oldest Italian-American newspaper in the United States with a mission to promote and preserve Italian culture and heritage by reporting in both Italian and English on subjects such as arts and culture, literature, education, history, business, sciences, sports, lifestyle to name a few.

The paper publishes news articles that feature events in the Italian-American communities primarily of the west coast, helping to foster a meaningful connection with Italian culture. L'Italo-Americano is published every Thursday, and it reaches more than 30,000 readers weekly. Moreover, with a growing social media network, it will be on the cutting edge of how Italian-Americans can connect with their culture and heritage.

L'Italo-Americano is now offering a 3-months internship at its headquarters in Los Angeles, California. During the collaboration, the intern will work as a journalist writing articles in English and Italian, covering events of interest for the newspaper in the Los Angeles area and providing administrative support. A very good knowledge of written and spoken English and Italian are required as well as good writing skills.

L'Italo-Americano will provide the intern an independent accommodation near its headquarters for the duration of the collaboration.

Job Summary:

The Department of Languages and Literatures at the University of Denver invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization in 20th- and/or 21st-century Italian literature, cultural studies and/or film studies. Position responsibilities include:

Teaching six courses during the academic year. The majority of these courses will be within the Italian curriculum; however, contribution to non-language classes of the University’s common curriculum and/or to other interdisciplinary programs. Working with section faculty, assess Italian offerings, design courses, and revise the curriculum.
Advising of majors and minors, declared or prospective, and of students planning to study in Italy as well as supervising an occasional senior thesis.
Publishing in high quality and increasingly authoritative publications in a field or subfield belonging to the area of specialization, placed in top journals and/or (for book-length manuscripts) with a leading academic press.
Participating in regional, national, and international scholarly associations and congresses.
Serving as a member on ad hoc and standing committees of the department, division, and university. Early in the tenure probationary period these committee obligations will be prudently selected and more demanding service opportunities will be reserved for after tenure is awarded.



Required Qualifications:

PhD or equivalent in Italian or closely related field (e.g., Romance Languages or Comparative Literature with clear Italian emphasis) (ABD Considered). If PhD is not complete by September 1, 2014, the individual will hold the rank of Instructor until the degree is complete.
Demonstrated excellence and effectiveness in teaching Italian language and/or Italian literature, cultural studies or film studies at all undergraduate levels.
Promise of outstanding scholarship.
Native or near-native command of both Italian and English.



Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Italian or closely related field at the time of application. Area of specialization in 20th- and/or 21st-century Italian literature, cultural studies and/or film studies.
Extended residence and extensive travel in Italy.
Experience in designing courses (including study abroad) and in assessing classes and programs.

The Department of Languages and Literatures at the University of Denver will hire an Assistant Professor of Italian to begin September 1, 2014. The successful candidate will join the University of Denver's vibrant Italian program, which offers both an undergraduate major and minor. Italian at the University of Denver is an interdisciplinary program focusing on the study of the Italian language, its manifestations in history and the study of past and present literary and artistic facets of Italian culture. Italian faculty members enjoy substantial programming and financial support from the Anna Maglione-Sie Endowment in Italian Culture.

This is a tenure-track position with full benefits. The teaching load is six classes per year on a quarter calendar. Salary is competitive. Area of specialization: 20th-and 21st-century Italian literature, cultural studies and/or film studies. We are seeking an innovative and productive scholar with a strong
commitment to interdisciplinary teaching, whose major field of research
is Italian Medieval Literature and Culture particularly Dante Studies. A

strong knowledge of Latin and Old Italian.

Ihre Aufgaben:



• Lehrveranstaltungen im Fachgebiet Didaktik der romanischen Sprachen und Literaturen bezogen auf eine oder mehrere romanische Sprachen um Umfang von 6,5 SWS



• Beteiligung an Forschung und Verwaltung an der Professur



• Vor- und Nachbereitung der fachdidaktischen Studienbegleitenden Praktika in den entsprechenden romanischen Sprachen



• Durchführung entsprechender Prüfungen





Unsere Anforderungen:



• Abgeschlossenes Studium der Romanistik mit didaktischem Schwerpunkt (1. Staatsexamen oder vergleichbarer Universitätsabschluss),



• Interesse an der eigenen wissenschaftlichen Weiterqualifikation in der Didaktik der romanischen Sprachen und Literaturen (Promotion, ggf. Habilitation),



• Kompetenzen in mindestens einer romanischen Sprache (idealerweise Französisch) erforderlich, weitere romanische Sprachen sind von Vorteil (insbesondere Spanisch, Italienisch und/oder Portugiesisch),



• Erfahrungen in der praktischen Anwendung fachdidaktischer Erkenntnisse (z.B. Unterricht, bevorzugt in schulischem Kontext, Verlagsarbeit) und



• Erfahrungen mit neurolinguistischen (bes. fMRT, EEG), quantitativen und/oder qualitativen Forschungsmethoden sind erwünscht.

The Role
Applications are invited for a part-time Lectureship/Senior Lectureship in the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies (IGRS).

The principal role of this post is to enhance and develop the Italian studies side of IGRS activities. FINALITA':
Offrire a giovani insegnanti di lingua inglese e/o italiana o a giovani laureati che si stiano specializzando per diventare insegnanti, l'opportunità di sviluppare e migliorare la propria metodologia didattica, contribuire a rafforzare l'insegnamento della lingua e della cultura italiana presso le Università e College statunitensi e, soprattutto, migliorare la conoscenza della lingua inglese e della società e cultura statunitensi in previsione di un futuro proseguimento della carriera didattica come insegnanti di lingua e cultura statunitensi al rientro nel proprio Paese.

Durante il periodo di assistentato i borsisti avranno l'incarico di assistere il docente nell'insegnamento della lingua italiana o di insegnare un proprio corso fino ad un massimo di 20 ore settimanali e dovranno frequentare almeno due corsi universitari per semestre, uno dei quali in U.S. Studies e gli altri in materie inerenti l'insegnamento della lingua inglese

DESTINATARI:
Giovani laureati italiani (titolo di laurea triennale, specialistica o vecchio ordinamento) con comprovata esperienza di insegnamento, anche a livello di supplenza, ed età max. 29 anni con ottima conoscenza della lingua inglese comprovata preferibilmente da TOEFL (Test of English As a Foreign Language, punteggio non inferiore a 79-80 internet-based) o da IELTS (International English Language Testing System, punteggio complessivo non inferiore a 6.0, modalità Academic).

ENTITA' E BENEFIT:
a) maintenance allowance di $ 5,400 corrisposto dalla Commissione Fulbright quale contributo per le spese di soggiorno per nove mesi.
b) stipendio mensile di $200-500 per mese corrisposto dall'università ( l'entità precisa è determinata dall'università di accoglimento).
c)esonero dal pagamento delle tasse universitarie per la frequenza di due corsi universitari a semestre.
d)copertura parziale o completa dei costi di vitto e alloggio a carico dell'università.
e)travel allowance di Euro 1.500 corrisposto dalla Commissione Fulbright quale rimborso forfetario per il pagamento del biglietto aereo di andata e ritorno tra l'Italia e gli Stati Uniti.
f)assicurazione medica finanziata dal Governo statunitense.

Candidates should hold at least an M.A. with specialization in language pedagogy, second-language acquisition or related fields. A unique post has arisen in our Junior School for a native speaker of
Italian to teach children in our innovative Bi-lingual Programme. In
partnership with the Italian Consulate children have the opportunity of
joining a partial immersion programme from Primary 2 through to Primary 7.
For ten hours per week language, humanities, art and music skills are
delivered through the Italian language. This project has been running
successfully for the past four years with a very positive impact on the
children's learning.

Applications are invited for the above post commencing August 19th 2013.
This is a fixed term post for one year initially. The person appointed will
be joining a successful and energetic team and will be expected to take on
the responsibility of class teacher for the children in their care. They
will teach children from two different year groups. With this is mind, it
is desirable that the successful candidate has experience of working with
children of Primary school age and is qualified to a high level.

A willingness to participate fully in the extra-curricular and pastoral
life of the school is essential.

All applicants should be registered, or eligible for registration, with the
General Teaching Council for Scotland. Please enclose a copy of your CV and
Catholic Teaching Certificate, if applicable, with your completed

*The Junior School*

Located in the centre of Glasgow, St Aloysius' College Junior School is a
Catholic school for boys and girls from age 3 (Kindergarten) to age 12

The Eduardo Saccone PhD Scholarship in Italian Literature

The Department of Italian, University College Cork, is offering one scholarship with a total value of €20,000 per annum, to cover fees (€5,770 per annum for EU students; €11,540 per annum for non-EU students) and the balance to be paid as a stipend in monthly instalments. The Scholarship is renewable for a total of up to three years, subject to the student receiving satisfactory progress reports
The Scholarship, named after Eduardo Saccone, professor of Italian at UCC from 1994 to 2003, is for PhD research on a topic in the area of modern and contemporary Italian literature.
The Scholarship includes a limited number of teaching and related duties in the Department of Italian to be agreed with the Head of Department. The scheme will require the student to undertake the equivalent of 135-150 tutorial hours.
The Department of Italian at UCC has a strong graduate studies programme, with over ten doctoral students researching topics in modern Italian literature and in Film Studies. For more information, please see:

A 3-year part-time language assistantship to be combined with full-time postgraduate research. PhD studentship on AHRC research project ‘In Search of Italian Cinema Audiences in the 1940s and 1950s: Gender, Genre and National Identity’

The Department of Italian at the University of Bristol is seeking to award a fully-funded PhD studentship from September 1st 2013. It is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). The studentship provides full tuition fees and a tax-free stipend of £13, 726 per annum for 3 years (for UK/resident students).



The award is for a self-contained doctoral research topic on the reception of female stars in the Italian press in the 1940s and '50s, to be supervised by Dr. Catherine O’Rawe, as part of the AHRC project, ‘In Search of Italian Cinema Audiences in the 1940s and 1950s: Gender, Genre and National Identity’. The AHRC project will be run in collaboration with the universities of Exeter and Oxford Brookes, but the PhD student will be based at Bristol, andwill work within the Department of Italian at the University of Bristol http://www.bris.ac.uk/italian.



Applicants should have a very strong undergraduate degree, should be fluent in both Italian and English, and should ideally have or be undertaking a Masters degree in a relevant discipline, such as Italian or film studies, or have relevant research experience in a related field. The successful candidate will undertake archival work in Italy on popular magazines of the 1950s, and will also collaborate with the project directors in analysing data gathered from questionnaires and interviews with Italians about their memories of cinema-going in the 1940s and ’50s.

The successful candidate will teach two sections of Introduction to Italian I in the fall and one section of Introduction to Italian II in the spring.
